My Chemical Romance marches Black Parade

My Chemical Romance welcomed fans to The Black Parade on Tuesday, October 24th with the release of its third full-length album and most ambitious effort yet. Singer Gerard Way said that the New Jersey-based punk outfit set out from the start to make a statement with this CD: "The Black Parade is an epic, theatrical, orchestral, big record that, you know, is also a concept album, that has a very set story in it. But also as you listen to this record, the layers of that story peel away, and what you're left with at the end is a story about mortality, and our own mortality."

My Chemical Romance played in New York City to celebrate the release of the album. It will play additional shows this week and next in Boston, Chicago, New Orleans and Los Angeles.

The group has not announced its full North American tour plans yet.

The Black Parade follows up the band's platinum 2004 release, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge.
