New Buckcherry video inspired by fans
Buckcherry's newly-released video for its latest single, "Next 2 You," was inspired by fans, according to Blabbermouth.net. The band held a contest in which fans submitted their own videos for the song through MySpace and YouTube. The winning clip, submitted by two fans called Syd and Lexy, provided the basis for a bigger-budgeted version of the same concept. Buckcherry's version is available online now, along with the original, which has been viewed over 25,000 times.
Buckcherry collaborated on "Next 2 You" with occasional Aerosmith co-writer Marti Frederiksen. Singer Joshua Todd told us that the tune was one of two last-minute additions to the band's comeback album, 15: "We had finished the record, the writing process, and just thought that it could be just a little bit better. And there was two songs that we just thought, you know, they weren't quite where we thought they could be and we weren't sure. And so Keith (Nelson, guitarist) mentioned Marti Frederiksen because of Aerosmith, and he just polished them up to where I think it made the record that much better."
"Next 2 You" follows "Crazy Bitch" as the second single off 15, which was released earlier this year.
The raunchy "Crazy Bitch" video was pulled from circulation last month when an underage girl sued the band, claiming she was coerced into taking her top off in the clip. A new video has since been filmed.
Buckcherry will re-release its self-titled 1999 debut album on October 31st in a special CD/DVD deluxe edition featuring rare studio recordings and videos.
Buckcherry founders Todd and Nelson reformed the group last year after disbanding in 2001.
Buckcherry is on tour with Crossfade and plays tonight (Monday, October 23rd) in Baltimore.
