Radiohead finally in the studio
Radiohead has finally entered a studio to begin recording its seventh album after more than a year of false starts and writing sessions, according to a post by singer Thom Yorke at the band's official Web site. Yorke wrote, "We've started the record properly now. Starting to get somewhere I think. Finally." The eccentric vocalist actually divulged the news offhandedly as part of a larger post asking fans to get involved in the Big Ask environmental awareness campaign.
The campaign is urging the British government to pass a law that carbon emissions must be reduced by three per cent a year.
Yorke told Pitchfork Media in a recent interview that Radiohead has considered calling it quits during the past two years.
He also said that the group has delayed work on its next album simply because it did not have a deadline to deliver new music. Radiohead is currently without a label after 2003's Hail To The Thief fulfilled its contract with EMI Music.
The band did complete its first tour of North America and Europe in more than two years this past summer. Yorke also released his debut solo effort, called The Eraser, in July.
