Red Hot Chili Peppers win at chainsaw awards, plan January trip
The Red Hot Chili Peppers will head out on a two-month North American tour in January. Dates and venues for the trek, which will feature Gnarls Barkley as support, have yet to be announced.
Meanwhile, the Chili Peppers' video for "Dani California" was named Killer Video at the first Fuse Fangoria Chainsaw Awards, which were held Saturday night (October 14th) at the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles. Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis was on hand to pick up his group's Chainsaw, which was presented by Used singer Bert McCracken.
The show, which mixed awards for horror and music, also honored 30 Seconds To Mars singer Jared Leto with the prize for Prince Of Darkness, while the band's clip for "The Kill" picked up a trophy for Best Video Inspired by a Movie, in this case the 1980 horror classic The Shining.
Other presenters included members of Slipknot, Linkin Park, Fall Out Boy and Korn's Jonathan Davis, while Avenged Sevenfold and 30 Seconds To Mars performed.
The Fuse Fangoria Chainsaw Awards, a co-production of the Fuse music channel and the horror magazine Fangoria, will premiere on Fuse this Sunday night (October 23rd).
In other Chili Peppers news, bassist Flea jumped onstage to play with Patti Smith on Sunday night (October 15th), during the closing night show at legendary New York rock club CBGB.
