Snow Patrol first British band in 13 years to crack US top five
British band Snow Patrol is the first U.K. guitar band in 13 years to break into the Top Five of the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart with its song "Chasing Cars," according to a press release. The track has sold 665,000 copies as a digital download and sits at Number 17 on the Modern Rock radio chart, while the band's latest album, Eyes Open, is Number 29 on the Billboard Top 200 and has been certified gold for sales of more than 500,000 copies.
Eyes Open is the second biggest selling album of the year in the band's native country after the Arctic Monkeys' debut.
The group just completed a North American tour and will begin a sold-out U.K. jaunt at the end of November. The band's new British single is "Set The Fire To The Third Bar."
Snow Patrol has contributed "I Am An Astronaut" to Colours Are Brighter, a charity album of children's songs due out in the U.K. on October 16th. The CD will benefit Save The Children.
