Tool headlining "Big Day Out" festival
Tool has officially been announced as the headlining act for the annual Big Day Out festival tour of Australia and New Zealand, which begins on January 19th in Auckland. According to Blabbermouth.net, the group will be joined by the Killers, Muse, My Chemical Romance and native Australians Jet on the bill, which will hit at least seven cities in both countries during a two-week stretch. System Of A Down, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Metallica have all previously headlined the event.
Tool continues to tour in support of its fourth studio album, 10,000 Days, which has sold more than 1.2 million copies since its release last May.
The CD's latest single is "The Pot."
The group finishes up a North American tour this week with shows in Hartford, Connecticut on Thursday, October 5th, East Rutherford, New Jersey on Friday, October 6th, and Uniondale, New York on Saturday, October 7th. A European trip begins on November 3rd in Spain.
Frontman Maynard James Keenan recently posted a message at the Web site of his other band, A Perfect Circle. Keenan commented on his own activities and guitarist Billy Howerdel's solo project, but did not give any indication that the band was reactivating any time soon.
