Velvet Revolver playing benefit for injured cop
Velvet Revolver will reportedly perform acoustically and electrically this Saturday (October 14th) at the Canyon Club in Malibu, California to help raise money for injured Malibu deputy sheriff Jim Mulay, according to AntiMusic.com. According to the show organizer's MySpace page, Mulay was critically injured while attempting to apprehend an armed robbery suspect on August 28th. Mulay is said to be improving daily but still looking at a lengthy recovery and rehabilitation process. A fund has also been established in his name.Local act Rhino Bucket, along with several other musicians and TV celebrities, are expected to participate in the fundraiser.
The event begins at 9 p.m. PT and is scheduled to last until 2 a.m.
Velvet Revolver is working on tunes for its second album, tentatively titled Libertad, with a release planned for sometime in 2007.
Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland recently shot a video in Los Angeles for "Happy," a song from his upcoming second solo album. Weiland's first solo effort since 1998's 12 Bar Blues will come out through Softdrive Records, which the singer co-owns, but a title and release date have not been set.
