Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry knocked out at Las Vegas concert
Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry was knocked in the head by a camera boom during a performance in Las Vegas last weekend, but he is not expected to miss any shows. The band was on stage at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday (November 4th), with 14 cameras shooting a performance of "Back In The Saddle" for the upcoming NASCAR promotion, when one of the camera booms hit the guitarist on the left side of his head. He was able to finish the concert, but he blacked out afterward and was diagnosed with a concussion. He now has a black eye, a bump, and some scratches on his head. Perry said, "It was a scary moment for me, but you just say to yourself, 'To hell with it, play the song, there's 15,000 fans depending on you to not screw up.' Besides, it's going to take more than a camera boom to take me out."
A picture of a banged-up Perry is on his blog at the aeroforceone.com fan club website, where he wrote, "The last time I was hit that hard was a car accident about 25 years ago." He added, "Next time we film for NASCAR, I am wearing a helmet -- and not just on the track."
Aerosmith played on Tuesday, November 7th, at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, and their next show is Thursday (November 9th) in Chula Vista, California.
