Audioslave singer's stalker traced to London
Audioslave singer Chris Cornell and his wife Vicky have reportedly come closer to the person who's been stalking them than they ever would have imagined. According to the New York Post, the Cornells traveled to London this week for the world premiere of the new James Bond film, Casino Royale, only to find out that the stalker, who has sent death threats against Vicky Cornell and the couple's two children via email and regular mail, was sending the messages from a London location near their hotel. Investigators followed the trail to a location that is now apparently abandoned. The Cornells remain under 24-hour surveillance while in London, while the children are not on the trip and staying "with family."
The Post reported last month that Cornell's family had received death threats, with the singer installing a $250,000 security system at the family's Beverly Hills home and hiring 24-hour security guards.
The threats, which began coming in 2004, have reportedly escalated in recent months.
Cornell wrote and performed the theme song for Casino Royale, called "You Know My Name."
In other news, a live recording of Cornell performing the Michael Jackson classic "Billie Jean" at a recent acoustic show in Stockholm, Sweden has been posted at stereogum.com. Cornell plans to include a studio version of the tune on his second solo album, due out in early 2007.
