Disturbed walks line between politics and entertainment

With a major U.S. election just days away and world events changing almost at an hourly pace, Disturbed has struck a chord with its latest single, a cover of the 1986 Genesis hit, "Land Of Confusion." But frontman David Draiman told us that it's challenging sometimes to know when to speak out on issues to an audience and when to just entertain them: "When you speak to people, all you can do is speak from your heart. And there's certain things that will detract from the energy of a concert experience, that you don't want to speak about in that forum, and there are certain things that will help energize a concert experience, that can certainly be tied to political issues."

"Land Of Confusion" is a Number One hit on several rock charts, but Draiman told Billboard.com on Thursday, November 2nd that the band had hoped it would cross over to other radio formats.

The widely-seen video for the song was co-directed by renowned comic artist Todd McFarlane.

"Land Of Confusion" comes off Disturbed's third album, Ten Thousand Fists, which has sold over 1.2 million copies since its September 2005 release.

The band's Music As A Weapon tour kicks off on November 15th in Providence, Rhode Island, with Stone Sour, Nonpoint and Flyleaf joining the headliners.
