Initial Red Hot Chili Peppers tour dates announced
The initial dates for the Red Hot Chili Peppers' winter tour with opening act Gnarls Barkley have been revealed. According to LiveDaily.com, the first batch of shows begins on January 12th in Oklahoma City, with 17 dates confirmed so far. The last confirmed gig is March 7th in Houston, with a large block of shows in February still to be nailed down. Having been on the road since August, Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith told us about one technique the band uses to keep the show interesting every night: "We've been doing one song that, like, the fans get to choose, but usually it's always, like, 'Under The Bridge' or one of those that we're kinda gonna do anyway, so we try to pick a more obscure one. So we've been doing stuff off Mother's Milk and Blood Sugar that we haven't been doing lately, and we kind of switch those up, so that's kind of fun. We just have to keep doing different stuff or else we'll get bored."
The Chili Peppers are touring in support of their double album, Stadium Arcadium, which has sold nearly 1.5 million copies since its release last May.
The latest single from the disc is "Snow (Hey Oh)."
Gnarls Barkley is supporting its million-selling debut CD, St. Elsewhere, which features the single "Crazy." A deluxe expanded edition of St. Elsewhere arrived in stores last week.
