Jack White says he's split 50/50 between White Stripes and Racounteurs
White Stripes and Raconteurs singer and guitarist Jack White told British magazine Uncut this week that his loyalties are now split evenly between both groups. White explained, "I have to honestly say that I'm divided totally 50/50 between the Raconteurs and the White Stripes. My brain now has two options for songs that I write, and it's a really nice luxury to have as a songwriter." But before anyone begins worrying about the Stripes taking a back seat to the Raconteurs, who have been on tour all year, White added, "I have so many songs now for another White Stripes record. Meg (White, drummer) and I are working on songs during breaks from touring with the Raconteurs."
White formed the Raconteurs last year with fellow singer/songwriter Brendan Benson and the rhythm section from the Greenhornes. The quartet's debut disc, Broken Boy Soldiers, came out this past spring.
The last White Stripes effort, Get Behind Me Satan, emerged in June of 2005.
The Raconteurs will begin an eight-date stint opening for Bob Dylan on November 9th in Portland, Maine, finishing on the 18th in Philadelphia.
