Mike Love releasing new Christmas single
The Beach Boys' Mike Love releases a new holiday single next week, titled "Santa's Goin' To Kokomo." The song, which was recorded during sessions for his upcoming solo album, titled Unleash The Love, marks Love's first holiday single release since the Beach Boys' 1974 track "Child Of Winter."
Love said that the new song, which references the Beach Boys' 1988 Number One hit "Kokomo," which he co-wrote, should be a fun addition to the dozens of Christmas classics played on the radio each holiday season, explaining that, "The holidays have always been a time which we enjoyed the classic songs of the season. 'Santa's Goin' To Kokomo' is something fresh and new. We hope this song adds a lot of 'Fun, Fun, Fun' to your celebration."
"Santa's Goin' To Kokomo" will be available for digital download via iTunes beginning November 28th.
In 1963, Love and his cousin and Beach Boys co-founder Brian Wilson co-wrote the band's holiday classic "Little Saint Nick."
There has been no release date set for Unleash The Love, which will mark Love's first solo album in over 25 years.
Mike Love and the Beach Boys are currently on tour in Europe. They kick off their next U.S. dates on December 8th in Providence, Rhode Island at the Providence Performance Arts Center.
Capping off their December dates, the Beach Boys will be performing on Christmas day (December 25th) through New Year's Eve (December 31st), in Las Vegas at the Luxor Hotel & Casino.
