My Chemical Romance parades at No2

My Chemical Romance's third album, The Black Parade, debuted at Number Two on Wednesday, November 1st, on the Billboard Top 200 album chart, selling 240,000 copies. That easily outpaced the band's 2004 breakthrough effort, Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge, which moved 38,000 copies in its first week on shelves. Guitarist Ray Toro told us that the band had a feeling they were onto something with the new album: "We had a sense that we wrote a record that was really special. You know, not only did it make us feel a certain way when we listened to it, but people that we played it for had those same feelings while they were listening to it, you know, and when that happened, I think we knew that we had something special. As far as to the success or anything of it, like, we never really thought of that. What we thought about was really how proud we were of writing the record we did."

The Black Parade was denied the Number One spot on this week's chart by the soundtrack to the Walt Disney television show Hanna Montana, which sold 281,000 copies.

My Chemical Romance told England's NME this week that they would like to turn The Black Parade into either a film or stage musical. Singer Gerard Way said, "I think (it) needs to be something. If not a play then a musical. It's such a visual thing. I think it would make a great animated film, something experimental would really work for this."

The album is a concept piece about the death of a character called "The Patient."

My Chemical Romance has not yet announced its full North American tour plans in support of the CD.
