Paramount picks up Rolling Stones tour film
The North American rights to director Martin Scorsese's upcoming documentary about the Rolling Stones current tour have been purchased by Paramount Pictures. The Hollywood Reporter said that Paramount snapped up the film after Scorsese shot footage of the Stones performing a New York City 60th birthday show for former president Bill Clinton. Scorsese has filmed a number of Stones performances, including the band's New York City shows at the intimate Beacon Theatre, as well as bigger venues including a gig in Austin, Texas.
The film, which also features a behind-the-scenes look at the Stones' A Bigger Bang tour, is expected to be released by the end of next year.
Scorsese isn't a stranger to rock films, having been one of the principal cameramen on Woodstock, before going on to direct the Band's The Last Waltz and the recent Bob Dylan documentary No Direction Home.

The Louisville Courier-Journal reported that two fans have filed a $51 million class-action lawsuit against the band for canceling a recent New Jersey show with only four hours notice. The two fans, Rosalee and Martin Durian, are seeking damages for thousands of fans, many of whom traveled long distances to the gig, who were left high and dry by the cancellation.
