Paul McCartney not feeling sorry for himself

Paul McCartney says that, although he's going through a rough patch with his pending divorce from estranged wife Heather Mills, he still thinks his life is pretty good.

Macca, who's in the U.S. for the premiere of his latest classical piece, titled Ecce Cor Meum (Behold My Heart), next week in New York, told The Washington Post that he's trying to maintain his dignity as a public person who's dealing with a very personal problem. He explained, "In the time I'm going through now, with a divorce, I know that everything that happens will be widely reported -- and actually everything that doesn't happen will be widely reported, even more."

He added that as a famous figure he's used to the constant scrutiny of his personal life: "It's something with great advantages. When I have these sort of drawbacks, I think, 'You know what, compared to some people's lives, you've got it pretty good.'"

On Tuesday (November 7th), Access Hollywood aired footage of McCartney posing for paparazzi after they followed his car while driving in suburban New Jersey. McCartney, who had posed for the shots in an effort to get the press to stop tailing him, was filmed one more time getting out of the car and politely asking the photographers to stop harassing him.

McCartney biographer Christopher Sanford says that Macca inherited his "show must go on" attitude from his late father, Jim McCartney, who was also a musician: "What he really handed down to Paul, and this came through, and I looked through all the playbills that I could find of his old shows -- he was a trouper. He was a showbiz guy. He would go on even when he felt bad, but the show always went on. That kind of was passed down the generations, because Paul is also of course a guy who's always 'on,' and always gives a hundred percent. But I think he got his love of the grease paint, and the showbiz, and putting on an act from his dad."

On Monday (November 13th), McCartney will appear at the Times Square Virgin Megastore to autograph copies of his new classical album, Ecce Cor Meum, and his concert DVD Paul McCartney: The Space Within Us, which will officially be released the next day. Fans are being asked to arrive at the location at 8 a.m. to receive a wristband to hold their spot to meet McCartney.

The next night Macca will be on hand at Carnegie Hall for the North American premiere of Ecce Cor Meum.
