Paul McCartney premieres new classical piece, greets fans in New York
Paul McCartney will appear on Tuesday, November 14th, at New York's legendary Carnegie Hall for the North American premiere of his latest classical piece, titled Ecce Cor Meum (Behold My Heart).
Macca is no stranger to Carnegie Hall, having first performed there with the Beatles on February 12th, 1964 at their second U.S. concert. McCartney has had the North American premieres of his two other major classical pieces, Paul McCartney's Liverpool Oratorio, and Standing Stone, at the hall, in 1991 and 1997, respectively.
On November 13th, McCartney met with fans at the Times Square Virgin Records store to autograph copies of the classical album and of his concert DVD Paul McCartney: The Space Within Us, which is released today.
The unofficial fan site maccareport.com reported that McCartney began signing at 12:10 p.m. and wrapped up a little after 2 p.m. after signing over 300 autographs, all of which were personalized. According to the site, fans were allowed to take photos and, "(McCartney) occasionally sang along to his music playing in the background."
Macca also announced that he'll do a similar signing on November 22nd in London at the Piccadilly Virgin Megastore.
The Paul McCartney: The Space Within Us DVD includes 22 songs performed live on his 2005 U.S. tour, featuring such Beatles classics as "Magical Mystery Tour," "Good Day Sunshine," "Hey Jude," "Helter Skelter," "She Came In Through The Bathroom Window," "Please Please Me," "Fixing A Hole," "Penny Lane," "Yesterday," and "Get Back."
The DVD also includes a handful of solo tracks, including "Maybe I'm Amazed," "Too Many People," and "Let Me Roll It," in addition to songs from his Grammy nominated album Chaos And Creation In The Backyard.

UPI announced that Macca is currently in negotiations to be the star attraction at Liverpool's Capital of Culture in England events in May 2008. McCartney "and friends" would perform a hometown concert at the city's King's Dock.
McCartney has also been short-listed to receive one of ten spots on UK's top Living Icon honors. The list is being sponsored by the British TV program The Culture Show. The winner will be announced on December 16th, after the viewer's votes are tallied once voting wraps on November 27th.
English.eastday.com reported that Macca is vying for a slot against 500 other Britons, including supermodel Kate Moss, actor Michael Caine, David Bowie, and others.
