Paul McCartney trying to maintain "a certain dignity" in divorce

Paul McCartney remains adamant about keeping the details of his split with estranged wife Heather Mills private. Prior to Friday's (November 3rd) performance of his latest classical piece, Ecce Cor Meum (Behold My Heart), at London's Royal Albert Hall, he told BBC Radio that, "There are certain things in life that are personal, and I think a relationship with a partner is intensely personal, and I prefer to keep it that way."

He went on to explain that, "When you are going through difficulties, I think the thing to do for the sake of all the people concerned is to keep a certain dignity and remember that it is a private affair, and that way, you will probably get through it better... You will put less noses out of joint and I think it is a more dignified way to go about it, so that's what I try to do."

McCartney will be in attendance when Ecce Cor Meum (Behold My Heart) receives its North American debut on November 14th at New York's Carnegie Hall.

In other McCartney divorce news:

The Daily Mail reported that Macca has purchased the 1988 tapes of his late wife Linda McCartney discussing personal details of the marriage. McCartney is said to have paid Linda's cookbook collaborator Peter Cox over $300,000 for his copies of the tapes, which were recorded while compiling Linda McCartney's Home Cooking book.

Last month McCartney had Cox sign a second gag agreement, after a source close to estranged wife Heather Mills reported that the tapes may include Linda stating that Macca was violent towards her. One of Mills' main accusations in her divorce petition is that McCartney acted violently towards her on several occasions, and her lawyers have stated that the tapes might corroborate some of Mills' claims about McCartney's temperament.

McCartney and Cox were photographed eating lunch together on Wednesday in London and several diners eavesdropped on their conversation. Macca reportedly talked to Cox at great length about his pending divorce from Mills.

Among the bits of conversation picked up by fellow diners were:

"Paul said, 'When I first met (Heather) her she was fantastic. It was good, really good. At first.' Then he said something about how he had been grieving for Linda at the time and that he had lost track of life."

"He said, '(Heather's) not at all nice, or at all compassionate, she just wants the money'. He drew the dollar sign in the air.... Then he said something like, 'She wants it all, but no, we'll try to find a way to sort it out... If she doesn't get what she wants she'll pick a fight. It's all lies that she has told her solicitors and all I can do is to try and keep calm. It's just my luck to have all these problems. I am really miserable, bullied actually. It just p***** me off, it is such c**p. I am being described as a b****** and it's just not true.'"
