Paul McCartney's estranged wife doesn't want Linda interview tapes destroyed
Paul McCartney's legal team has been asked by his estranged wife Heather Mills' attorneys to not destroy tapes of his late wife Linda McCartney discussing her marriage with him.
McCartney has put an additional gag order on writer Peter Cox, who co-authored Linda's 1989 book Linda McCartney's Home Cooking, and barred him from talking about the contents of Linda's taped discussions with him. Cox first signed an agreement to keep the details of the tapes confidential back in 1988. Rumors have spread that Linda talked at some point about McCartney physically abusing her, which is one of the claims Mills put forth in her recent divorce petition against McCartney. His lawyers have vehemently denied all allegations.
A source close to Mills told The Daily Mail said that, "Heather believes her story will stun the world. If Linda's tapes underline her case then so much the better. The voice of her allegedly disparaging Paul from beyond the grave is potentially dynamite."
The source said that Mills is eager to put the divorce behind her: "She has been painted as a gold-digger, but this is far from the truth. She's not greedy and would happily settle for a sensible figure to finally put closure to the marriage."
Linda McCartney died in 1998, from cancer at age 56. She and Paul were married for 29 years and had four children together.
Macca and Mills share a three year old daughter, Beatrice.
