Peter Gabriel given peace award

Peter Gabriel was honored in Rome on Friday (November 17th) for his dedication to world peace and human rights. Gabriel was the special guest at the Seventh World Summit Of Nobel Peace Laureates, where he was presented with the Man Of Peace Award. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the former Genesis vocalist received the award in a formal ceremony on Rome's Capitoline Hill.

Previous honorees have included Yusuf Islam, the artist formerly known as Cat Stevens; Boomtown Rats leader and Band Aid and Live Aid organizer Bob Geldof; and Italian actor Roberto Benigni, according to AP. The annual event is organized by the Gorbachev Foundation, which is lead by former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev, and by the city of Rome.
