Phil Lesh psyched for Bob Dylan tribute

Phil Lesh is one of the featured performers on Thursday, November 9th, at a Bob Dylan tribute concert in New York City. The Music Of Bob Dylan show takes place at Avery Fisher Hall in Lincoln Center, and Lesh told us that he's excited about it, especially since he doesn't know what will happen: "It reminds me, kind of, of the Jammys, 'cause there's gonna be a lot of people there that I haven't met or played with before, (and) I don't know who the house band is. It's kind of cool, 'cause you just go in and you get 10 minutes to run your song down, and away you go. I do know a lot of the people that are gonna be there, and, you know, I'm hoping that maybe something can happen spontaneously when we get there and we're all in the same room together."

Also on the bill are Patti Smith, singer-songwriter Ryan Adams, and hip-hop band the Roots. Included as well are two people who've worked with Lesh before, in both the Dead and his own Phil Lesh & Friends band -- Allman Brothers Band/Gov't Mule singer-guitarist Warren Haynes, and singer Joan Osborne.

Dylan isn't expected at the show -- he's got his own gig at the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland, Maine.

Lesh recently released Live At The Warfield on both CD and DVD. They're taken from the two-night stand that Phil Lesh & Friends did at the Warfield Theatre in San Francisco back in May.
