Pink Floyd guitarist plans Xmas release

Pink Floyd singer-guitarist David Gilmour has just announced a special Christmas gift for his fans -- new material that will be released for the holidays. Gilmour will release three live recordings next month, dedicated to the late Floyd founder Syd Barrett.

One is an acoustic cover of the song "Dark Globe," from Barrett's debut solo album The Madcap Laughs, while the other is a new version of Pink Floyd's first single "Arnold Layne." There will be two versions of "Arnold Layne," both of which were recorded at the Royal Albert Hall in London -- one features Floyd keyboardist Richard Wright on vocals, while the other has surprise guest performer David Bowie.

According to the official davidgilmour.com website, the tracks will be available to download on Christmas Day (December 25th), while a limited run of vinyl singles will be released on December 26th.
