Slipknot screening new film in US theaters
Slipknot will screen its new documentary, Voliminal: Inside The Nine, at selected theatres around the country on December 5th, the same day that the double-DVD set arrives in stores. The showings will take place in major U.S. cities like New York, Los Angeles and Washington D.C., with two screenings in the band's hometown of Des Moines, Iowa. For Slipknot percussionist and Voliminal director Shawn "Clown" Crahan, showing the project on the big screen is only fitting: "I'm calling it more of a movie than I am, you know, a DVD. I don't really like that term and I don't feel like I've really created that. I'm forced to still put it on discs and they're still gonna call it a DVD and, you know, there's nothing I can do about that, but I didn't turn in a DVD. You know, I turned it a movie, period. A film. That was the intention."
Clown and other members of Slipknot will attend the New York screening of the film to greet fans and answer questions.
Crahan says that Voliminal will present an "unflinching" look at Slipknot's 10-year history. The main 80-minute film was shot on digital handheld cameras over a 28-month period while the band was recording and touring behind its 2004 album, Vol. 3 (The Subliminal Verses).
The second disc of the two-DVD set will feature in-depth, exclusive interviews with all nine members of the band, bonus live and television performances, as well as all the videos from Vol. 3.
Screenings will take place in the following cities, with theatres to be announced soon:
