Snow Patrol members planning solo projects
Snow Patrol singer Gary Lightbody and guitarist Nathan Connolly are both planning to make solo records, according to NME.com. Lightbody told England's BBC that he has been working on solo material with an electronic feel, adding, "There might be something in the sidelines in that respect, you know. I know Nathan wants to make an album of his own and I'm going to go off and do something on my own in January." But Lightbody insisted that the projects would not mean the end of Snow Patrol, saying, "We'll always be together -- just like the end of Grease."
Connolly, who said that his own solo album would be "melodic and tuneful," recently told us that he feels the band members have all grown as musicians and people over the last few years: "From when I joined I've definitely become a better musician than when I joined, which is, you know, definitely the right way to do it. We're learning more with each record about, you know, music and how to work and better ourselves as a band and to keep our feet on the ground."
Snow Patrol will return to North America early next year for a headlining tour in support of the band's latest album, Eyes Open, which was recently certified gold for sales of more than half a million copies.
The trek will begin on February 26th in Portland, Oregon, with OK Go and the Silversun Pickups along as support.
Snow Patrol's current single, "Chasing Cars," was recently the number one most downloaded song in the iTunes Top 10, with U.S. download sales of well over 800,000.
The band began a U.K. arena tour last night (Tuesday, November 28th) in Birmingham, England. They'll take a break from that for U.S. radio festival appearances on December 5th in Denver, December 7th in Seattle and the 10th in Los Angeles.
