AFI begins mapping out 2007 tour
A.F.I. has begun scheduling dates for an early 2007 North American tour, according to Punkbands.com, with four shows already confirmed and many more presumably to come. This will be the Goth-punk outfit's second major tour on these shores since releasing its latest album, Decemberunderground, in June. Departed and hardcore punk legends Sick Of It All will act as support. In the meantime, A.F.I. has a handful of holiday radio festivals lined up this month, in Charleston, South Carolina on December 4th, Atlanta, Georgia on the 6th and Glendale, Arizona on the 12th.
A.F.I. recently reissued Decemberunderground as a boxed collection of six seven-inch singles. Each record, made of "icy" clear vinyl, comes in a picture sleeve each featuring a different member of the group, with the entire package coming in a clear plastic box stamped with the album's rabbit artwork. The set is only available through the band's web site or at Hot Topic stores.
The group will release its first DVD , titled I Heard A Voice, on December 12th. The disc features a concert shot in Long Beach, California along with behind-the-scenes material, a video collection and interviews with members of A.F.I.'s fan club. Screenings of the DVD are being held around the country starting next week, with venues and dates listed at the A.F.I. web site.
A.F.I. won a Libby Award earlier this week from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) for Best Vegetarian Band.
