Axl Rose "out of his mind" says booted band frontman

Guns N' Roses singer W. Axl Rose is "fucking out of his mind," according to Eagles of Death Metal frontman Jesse "The Devil" Hughes, whose group was kicked off Guns N' Roses' North American tour after just one show. Hughes told NME that he was shocked when Rose called his band the "Pigeons of Shit Metal" onstage after they received a reportedly hostile reception last Friday (November 24th) in Cleveland, during the first of what was supposed to be 15 shows. Hughes said, "(Rose) wasn't even there when we played. He got there about 30 minutes after we got done playing. He waltzed on to the stage and went nuts."

Hughes admitted that the Eagles of Death Metal did not get a strong reception at the beginning of their set, but claimed they had won the crowd over by the end. Hughes added that his tour manager got a call later that night from Rose's management, apologizing for the vocalist's behavior and asking the band to return to the tour. But Hughes said, "When my manager told me that, I just said, 'You can tell that motherfucker to go and fuck himself because I will never go through that again.'"

According to Hughes, Axl's management explained that the singer thought the Eagles of Death Metal were "a band getting shoved on his tour from the label."

Hughes also said that the Eagles are friends with some of the other musicians in the current Guns N' Roses lineup and that Axl's actions caused an "uproar" within the G N' R ranks.

The Eagles of Death Metal released their second album, Death By Sexy, earlier this year. The band is the brainchild of Hughes and Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme, who plays drums on the Eagles' albums and occasionally tours with the group.
