Coming in 2007: Metallica, Velvet Revolver and maybe Guns N' Roses
Linkin Park, Metallica, Fall Out Boy, Velvet Revolver and maybe Guns N' Roses lead the list of rock acts expecting to release new albums in 2007. So far only Fall Out Boy has confirmed a release date of February 6th for its next offering, Infinity On High, while Axl Rose has tentatively set March 6th as the arrival date for the long-delayed Guns N' Roses effort, Chinese Democracy. Linkin Park and Velvet Revolver are both in the studio now, while Metallica is preparing to begin recording, although none of those acts have revealed potential release dates.Linkin Park MC Mike Shinoda told us that after its two previous albums, the band is ready to take a risky musical step: "I feel like we did what we wanted to do with Hybrid Theory and Meteora, and now it's time to step outside the box and try something new. And hopefully that is something that our fans, you know, that have been with us will enjoy listening to. I will say one thing about it, and that is that it's been a really fun process."
Other acts slated to return with new CDs in 2007 include Panic! At The Disco, Avenged Sevenfold, Green Day, Nine Inch Nails, the Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, Korn, the Offspring, Courtney Love, Megadeth, Coheed and Cambria, Jimmy Eat World and Ozzy Osbourne.
Velvet Revolver singer Scott Weiland and Audioslave vocalist Chris Cornell are both working on solo albums for next year.
Most of the acts mentioned above are in the writing stages, while Radiohead, the Offspring and the Smashing Pumpkins are recording and Nine Inch Nails is getting ready to mix its new disc.
