Extra Red Hot Chili Peppers tracks online

The Red Hot Chili Peppers release nine songs that didn't make the final track listing of the band's Stadium Arcadium CD on Tuesday, December 19th, through online retailers. The group recorded 38 songs and originally planned to issue Stadium Arcadium as a triple-disc set, but scaled it back to a two-CD package. Even though the Chili Peppers are making their music available online, bassist Flea said that he's not a fan himself of buying songs one at a time: "I think that people who really love music are always going to listen to a whole body of work together. It's not just like, you don't wanna hear just one little thing, you wanna hear the whole storm and the calm after the storm and the whole thing. You wanna live all the things that life has and not just one little piece. But at the same time, there's a lot of great singles that live on their own and I'm proud of any of the songs by themselves."

The Chili Peppers will begin a winter tour with Gnarls Barkley on January 12th in Oklahoma City.

The band is nominated for six Grammy awards this year, including Album of the Year, Best Rock Album, Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal and Best Rock Song for "Dani California." The awards will be handed out on February 11th in Los Angeles and broadcast live on CBS.

Stadium Arcadium has sold over 1.5 million copies in America alone since its release last May. The latest single from the disc is "Snow (Hey Oh)."
