Fall Out Boy gets funky on new single
Fall Out Boy's next album, Infinity On High, isn't due out until February 6th, but the group is giving fans a preview with the new single, "This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race." The song's funky, hip-hop influenced rhythm charts a different path for the quartet, as frontman Patrick Stump told us: "That was something I wanted to experiment with 'cause I really like the idea of changing. I love R&B music and hip-hop music where basically, for the most part, it's one groove and you change what happens on top of it. So that's where 'Arms Race' came from -- it's basically a hip-hop/R&B song, but written as a punk song."
Fall Out Boy released "...Arms Race" last month and performed it live for the first time on the American Music Awards.
Both "...Arms Race" and another new track, "Carpal Tunnel of Love," are streaming on the group's web site, falloutboyrock.com.
The group is currently playing U.S. radio shows, including a stop on Wednesday, December 13th, in Detroit. Its Friends Or Enemies club tour begins on January 4th in San Francisco, finishing up two weeks later on the 20th in Orlando, Florida.
