Fall Out Boy singer not worried about haters
Fall Out Boy has attracted its fair share of detractors and haters as it's gotten more popular, a subject the band touches on in its new single, "This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race." But singer Patrick Stump told us that he doesn't spend too much time worrying about people who don't like his band: "It comes down to what makes you happy. You can't really worry about trying to please everybody because you're not gonna please everybody. My mom once told me someone could hate you just 'cause you look like someone that they hated or something, you know what I mean? There's, like, so many stupid reasons not to like somebody and not to like a band, and at the end of the day I think it's healthy for people not to like my band because I don't write music for them. I write music for me and my band."
Fall Out Boy released "...Arms Race" as a single last month and performed it live for the first time on the American Music Awards.
The song comes off the band's upcoming third album, Infinity On High, which arrives on February 6th.
Both "...Arms Race" and another new track, "Carpal Tunnel of Love," are streaming on the group's web site, falloutboyrock.com.
The group wraped up a brief run of radio festival appearances on Thursday, December 14th, in Lowell, Massachusetts. Its Friends Or Enemies club tour begins on January 4th in San Francisco, finishing up two weeks later on the 20th in Orlando, Florida.
