Garbage drummer does more producing

Garbage drummer Butch Vig seems to be moving ahead with a return to full-time work as a producer. According to Undercover News, Vig is producing the major label debut by Florida band Against Me in a Los Angeles studio. Vig has also recently worked with emo stars Jimmy Eat World on their new CD. He was best known for producing Nirvana's Nevermind and the Smashing Pumpkins' Siamese Dream before getting behind the kit for Garbage.

Garbage singer Shirley Manson is currently working on her debut solo album. The singer will also cover a yet-to-be-named John Lennon song for a Darfur benefit album due out next year.

Manson recently enlisted White Stripes/Raconteurs frontman Jack White and Smashing Pumpkins founder Billy Corgan to collaborate on songs for her first solo record. The disc is expected to arrive sometime in 2007.

A Garbage "best-of" compilation called Absolute Garbage is slated to arrive on March 20th, 2007. The band remains on the "indefinite" hiatus it began last year after touring in support of its fourth album, Bleed Like Me.
