Guns N' Roses manager responds to Eagles Of Death Metal jabs

Guns N' Roses manager Merck Mercuriadis has responded to comments made by Eagles of Death Metal frontman Jesse Hughes about the Eagles being thrown off the current G N' R tour on November 24th after one show. Hughes claimed that the incident, in which the Eagles were greeted by a hostile audience and Guns singer Axl Rose called the band "the Pigeons of Shit Metal" onstage, led to an "uproar" among the Guns ranks that led to Rose throwing a bass guitar at bassist Tommy Stinson and firing a member of the G N' R road crew. Mercuriadis dismissed Hughes' claims, telling MTV.com, "There is no truth to either claim as evidenced by the fact that our crew remains identical to when the tour started almost six weeks ago, and to say Axl threw a bass at Tommy is pure fiction."

Mercuriadis added that the Eagles were asked to leave the tour "not only because Guns N' Roses' audience hated them and tore them apart but because they could not handle the response. They were supposed to play a 60-minute set but left the stage after 42 minutes due to the hostile reception. The facts do not support the image they are trying to portray, which is why they are attempting to put this spin on it."

According to Hughes, G N' R's management later apologized for Rose's behavior and asked the Eagles to return to the tour, which Hughes turned down.

The Eagles of Death Metal is the brainchild of Hughes and Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme, who plays drums on the Eagles' albums and occasionally tours with the group.

Helmet has taken the Eagles' place on the Guns N' Roses tour, which stopped on Monday, December 4th, in Winnipeg, Canada.
