Incubus lands first No1 chart debut
Incubus earned the first Number One debut of its career on Wednesday, December 6th, with its sixth studio album, Light Grenades. The CD landed in the Billboard album chart's top spot with first-week sales of 165,000 copies. Singer Brandon Boyd told us he's pleased with the album and can't wait to play the songs live for fans: "In my opinion it's the strongest work to date for Incubus and we're very excited to come across America and perform the songs. We're very excited for people to hear the songs for the first time and digest them and get to know them. You know, every time we make a record, someone asks, like, 'Tell us about this record.' I say, I usually say, 'This is the best record we've done.' But I really mean it this time."
Although the band's last effort, 2004's A Crow Left of the Murder, arrived at Number Two, it moved 332,000 copies in its first week, twice as many as the new CD.
The first single from Light Grenades is called "Anna Molly."
Incubus will begin a theatre tour on January 5th, 2007 in Vancouver, Canada, with shows booked through February 11th in Los Angeles.
Brandon Boyd will publish his second book, titled From The Murks of the Sultry Abyss, in January. More info can be found at brandonboydbooks.com.
