Jared Leto's film experience helped new 30 Seconds To Mars video

30 Seconds To Mars frontman Jared Leto is also a highly regarded actor, with roles in Fight Club, Requiem For A Dream and American Psycho on his resume. So when it came time to shoot the video for the new 30 Seconds single, "From Yesterday," a 13-minute short film set in China, Leto told us he felt right at home: "It is one of the few circumstances where my experience making films actually adds to the process and the experience that surrounds the music. And it was an opportunity for me to combine some of the elements together in a way that served the song and the film itself."

"From Yesterday," is reportedly the first American rock video ever shot completely in the People's Republic of China. Leto directed the clip under his pseudonym of Bartholomew Cubbins.

The video, which used more than 300 extras, was shot in the Forbidden City and at the ancient Emperor Qin palace. The 13-minute "mini-movie" version of the clip is available online.

"From Yesterday" is the latest single from 30 Seconds To Mars' sophomore album, A Beautiful Lie, which was re-released earlier this month in a special two-disc deluxe edition.

30 Seconds To Mars will co-headline this winter's Taste of Chaos tour with the Used. The trek begins on February 15th in Seattle.
