Jethro Tull leader glad to help the homeless
Jethro Tull singer-flautist Ian Anderson will perform on Tuesday, December 19th, at St. Bride's Church on Fleet Street in London in a special benefit concert. Money raised at the show will go to a local organization that looks after homeless people in London, and he'll also donate a portion of the royalties from last year's live Aqualung album to the charity. Anderson told us that it's a good time to help those less fortunate: "Christmas time is a sensitive time for those with nowhere to go and perhaps not too much to eat, and it seems a fitting thing to do. I'm not one of these people who spends his every spare moment of my time doing charitable good deeds, but you know, a few times a year, I try and help somebody out doing something."
It's also appropriate that some of the live Aqualung proceeds will be donated, since the album centers on a homeless man.
