John Densmore to speak at Doors movie anniversary
John Densmore will be on hand on Wednesday, December 6th, to help celebrate the 15th anniversary of director Oliver Stone's movie The Doors. The film will be screened at Mann's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, and after the show, Densmore will discuss the film with Stone and castmembers Val Kilmer, who played Doors frontman Jim Morrison; Kyle MacLachlan, who played keyboardist Ray Manzarek; and Kathleen Quinlan, who played Morrison's wife Patricia Kennealy. The event is open to the public, and tickets are only $15.
Densmore is the only member of the Doors to have appeared in the movie, playing the role of the engineer at the band's last recording session. Guitarist Robby Krieger was a technical advisor on the project.
In the film, Densmore was played by Kevin Dillon, who's probably best known these days for the role of Drama on the HBO series Entourage, while Krieger was portrayed by Frank Whaley.
