Linkin Park drummer dreaming about playing live again

Linkin Park drummer Rob Bourdon told AOL Music on Wednesday, December 20th, that he is so eager to begin playing live again that he's literally dreaming about it. Bourdon said, "It was like one of those dreams where you go to school and you realize you don't have any pants on. All of a sudden we had come out of the studio and we were onstage, and I hadn't had a chance to rehearse or go over any of the stuff again. It was just like playing on the fly." Bourdon might have to wait a while before his dream comes true, since Linkin Park's first confirmed date of 2007 is a headlining slot at New Jersey's Great Bamboozle festival on May 6th.

In the meantime, the band is hard at work on its third studio album. Bourdon said, "I can't wait to play the new stuff, because I think that the fans are going to be really pleasantly surprised by the new direction that we've taken our music."

The new Linkin Park album, which is still untitled, is due out sometime next year. The group has been recording the disc with famed producer Rick Rubin and has promised a different sound from its previous efforts.

For now fans will have to satisfy their curiosity with LPU6, the latest of the group's annual fan club holiday EPs and the first to also be available through Best Buy. The six-song set, a mix of live and studio tracks, includes two new songs from the band's current recording sessions. One of those is "Qwerty," which Bourdon calls "probably the heaviest song we've ever written."
