My Chemical Romance not letting live show overshadow music
My Chemical Romance has not yet announced its first full North American tour in support of The Black Parade, but the band is already working on how it plans to present its new concept album live. Singer Gerard Way told us that one thing the band won't do is let the stage show take precedence over the music: "We're gonna retain the essence of a rock show. It's not going to be like seeing (Pink Floyd's) The Wall. It is going to bring the music and the band and the record to life, but it is going to be theatrical without detracting. It's not gonna be surface over substance. We're really focusing on being great performers and then the theatrics will come into play." My Chemical Romance expects to launch its American tour in April and will headline New Jersey's Great Bamboozle punk festival on May 5th.
The group plays radio festivals on Thursday, December 14th, in Detroit and on Friday, December 15th, in Chicago.
The New Jersey-based act has selected "Famous Last Words" as the second single from The Black Parade. The track will follow "Welcome to the Black Parade," which has topped the modern rock radio charts for weeks. A video for "Famous Last Words" is now online at YouTube.
The Black Parade debuted at Number Two on the Billboard Top 200 when it arrived in late October and has sold 549,000 copies since its release.
My Chemical Romance's first album, I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love, was reissued by the independent Eyeball Records on Tuesday (December 12th). The band recorded the disc just a few months after forming in late 2001 and released it in 2002 through Eyeball.
