My Chemical Romance reveals first N. American headlining dates
My Chemical Romance has revealed its first headlining North American tour dates in support of its new album, The Black Parade. The group has posted a month's worth of shows at its official web site, beginning on February 22nd in Manchester, New Hampshire. Although the band has been playing songs from The Black Parade on its recent radio festival run, guitarist Ray Toro told us the headlining tour will focus heavily on the album: "You know, we wanna try to reproduce the record as close as we can, because we've kind of been doing, I guess, like scaled-back versions of the songs. And I think when we do the headlining tour, I'm kind of excited to go, like, full-on with the music side of it and also production stuff. So it's gonna be really interesting. We've been kind of planning some things out now that'll, you know, hopefully manifest itself next year." Rise Against is confirmed as the opener on this round of dates, with Muse slated to appear on a yet-to-be-announced second leg.
My Chemical Romance will perform with Muse, Tool and others on the Big Day Out tour in Australia and New Zealand, beginning on January 19th. The group will also headline New Jersey's Great Bamboozle festival on May 5th.
