New Smashing Pumpkins songs leaked?
Four alleged new songs by the Smashing Pumpkins were reportedly leaked onto file-sharing web sites recently, according to MTV. The four tracks, titled "Collapsing Cities," "The Restless Word," "Siam Mais" and "In the Eyes Beholding," were grouped together as "The Baker Demos," a reference to producer Roy Thomas Baker, with whom the band is working. But the authenticity of the tunes has yet to be confirmed, with fans saying online that the vocals sound nothing like frontman Billy Corgan. There was no comment from the band's management.
Corgan announced the reactivation of the Smashing Pumpkins last year. Aside from Corgan and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin, it is unknown whether original guitarist James Iha, original bassist D'Arcy Wretzky, or latter-day bass player Melissa Auf der Maur will be involved in the project.
No release date or title has been revealed for the Pumpkins comeback album, the first since 2000's MACHINA/The Machines of God.
Chamberlin posted an update on the album's progress online earlier this week, writing that the Pumpkins had completed four songs and adding, "Every day is a little louder and every night is a little darker!"
