Next Offspring album more straightforward rock
The Offspring are turning toward straightforward rock on their new album, according to Aversion.com. Singer Dexter Holland said in a statement that the band has completed eight songs for its next record, describing all of them as "straight up guitar songs, no keyboards or samples or anything. We didn't really set out to do it that way, it's just sort of turning out that way." Holland added that he expects all eight songs to make the album's final track listing.
The band's last few records have made increasing use of keyboards, samples and back-up vocalists.
The new yet-to-be titled album is due out next year and will follow up 2003's Splinter.
The group will take a holiday break and resume recording early in the New Year.
