Paul McCartney reportedly makes divorce settlement with Heather Mills
Paul McCartney has reportedly offered estranged wife Heather Mills a divorce settlement amounting to $235 million. Despite previous insider reports stating that McCartney is eager to argue the divorce before the courts, his children, including fashion designer Stella McCartney, have reportedly convinced him for the sake of his health to make a settlement and walk away.
The alleged $235 million deal that Macca has cut with Mills includes:
- A public lump payout of $19.6 million, which Mills will donate to charity.
- $3.9 million a year for care and child support of the couple's three year-old daughter Beatrice.
- $5.8 million for their British homes.
- A $15.6 million house fund to purchase homes in the U.S. and Europe.
- And $3.9 million for "staff fees and general expenses" for the next 15 years.
A source close to McCartney told Britain's News Of The World newspaper that, "Stella told Paul: 'If this goes on it could kill you. Being happy is more important than money.'" The source went on to add that, "It's a done deal and Paul is relieved."
Last summer, Macca, accompanied by daughter Mary, was rushed to a local London doctor after reportedly suffering chest pains. Representatives from the McCartney camp downplayed the incident, claiming that there was nothing more to the visit other than him scheduling an after-hours physical.
Macca and Mills announced their separation in a joint statement on May 17th. Macca officially filed for divorce on July 28th.
