Pink Floyd auctioning eyeball for charity
Pink Floyd has put up one of its stage props in a charity auction. The group is selling the giant six-foot-tall eyeball it used on its 1994 world tour, and featured on the cover of its Pulse DVD, to the highest bidder, with proceeds going to Crisis, a homeless charity in England. The auctions started on Thursday, December 14th, on eBay and wraps up December 20th.In a statement, Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour noted that: "The eBay auction will not only raise much-needed funds for the charity but will also raise awareness of the plight of the homeless at a time of year when they are most vulnerable."
Insiders tell us that depending on how much money this auction raises, Pink Floyd may consider putting up more of its stage props to benefit charities.
Pink Floyd last played on July 2nd, 2005 at the Live 8 concert in London. Gilmour and bassist Roger Waters have since toured on their own, and no further reunions are currently planned.
