Red Hot Chili Peppers got competitive writing "snow"
The Red Hot Chili Peppers recently issued "Snow (Hey Oh)" as the third single from the band's platinum-plus double CD, Stadium Arcadium. Not only is the song a crowd pleaser in concert, but drummer Chad Smith told us that it was written in an unusual way: "That might have been from something that we do called 'the faceoff,' when John (Frusciante, guitarist) and Flea (bassist) will, we need a part for a song and they'll just go in a different part -- John will go in the bathroom and Flea will go up in the loft or outside -- and they'll both come up with parts, and they come back, and then Anthony (Kiedis, singer) and I sit there and we kind of judge 'em, and we'll figure out which one fits the song better, and we've been doing that for a long time."
The Chili Peppers are nominated for six Grammy awards this year, including Album of the Year, Best Rock Album, Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal and Best Rock Song for "Dani California." The awards will be handed out on February 11th in Los Angeles and broadcast live on CBS.
Meanwhile, the band will release nine songs that didn't make the final track listing of Stadium Arcadium on December 19th through online retailers.
The Chili Peppers will begin a winter tour with Gnarls Barkley on January 12th in Oklahoma City.
