Red Hot Chili Peppers releasing extra "Stadium" tracks online

The Red Hot Chili Peppers will release nine of the songs that didn't make the final track listing of the band's Stadium Arcadium double CD on December 19th, according to FMQB.com. The songs, many of which appeared as B-sides on international singles for "Dani California," "Tell Me Baby" and "Snow (Hey Oh)," will go on sale through online retailers as part of digital EPs for those same singles.

The group recorded so much material that it originally planned to issue Stadium Arcadium as a triple-disc set, but scaled it back to a two-CD package. Drummer Chad Smith told us how the band came up with more than three dozen finished songs in the first place: "We just got on a roll! And it was coming out good quality and quantity, you know, and Anthony (Kiedis, singer) was getting inspired to write words and melodies for all that stuff -- I don't know how he did it -- and we just got, really just got rolling. You know, people bringing in stuff from home, and jams, the jams were like really good. It was just fun."

The Chili Peppers are currently on the road in Europe, but will begin a winter tour with Gnarls Barkley on January 12th in Oklahoma City.

Stadium Arcadium has sold over 1.5 million copies since its release last May.

The latest single from the disc is "Snow (Hey Oh)."
