Ringo Starr producing "Ringo Anthology" for British TV

Ringo Starr is planning to produce an autobiographical documentary for British TV. Starr, who for years has refused all offers to write his memoirs, is quoted by Londonnet.co.uk as saying, "It's an anthology we are doing on me."

A source close to the project told Britain's Daily Express that, "To most of the general public, Ringo is still the Liverpudlian who simply got lucky by hooking up with (John) Lennon and (Paul) McCartney at the right time. Less is generally known about Ringo's story. He is speaking to people such as the Beatles' producer Sir George Martin in the film, and it is hoped people will go away with a better understanding of him."

Then still-unnamed documentary is expected to air sometime next year. There has been no word as to whether the show will span Starr's entire career, or just his Beatles days. It is also unknown if Starr's former bandmate Paul McCartney will also be featured on the special, or whether the show will be aired in the U.S.

Starr's longtime producer and songwriting partner Mark Hudson told us that Starr said that up until their split, the Beatles always knew how to pull it together musically: "Like Ringo said, 'With all of the stuff that was going on during Let It Be, the arguments and George (Harrison) leaving, as soon as I would count the song off and we would start playing, we were those guys again in Hamburg and in the Cavern (Club), and all that went away and we were that great band. And then when that song was over, we went back to that 'I don't like you, I don't trust you, why are you hurting me, and that.'"
