Slipknot album not likely to arrive until 2008
Slipknot percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan recently told MTV.com that the band is not likely to regroup until late next year and probably won't release its fourth studio album until sometime in 2008. The nine-man outfit has been on an extended vacation since the end of 2005, with various members pursuing side projects in the meantime. But Crahan told us that Slipknot will inevitably return: "You know, the new year starts and it will be the downward spiral of talking about getting back together. I'm sure within a year from now, maybe a little bit earlier than that, you know, we'll probably all be together writing. Do we know what we're doing? Of course we don't know what we're doing. You know, it's a little too early right now, I would say, to say what is coming in the future."
Other Slipknot-related projects have included singer Corey Taylor and guitarist Jim Root's band Stone Sour, along with Crahan's own side group, called To My Surprise. Drummer Joey Jordison toured with Ministry last summer while DJ Sid Wilson has issued a solo CD.
Slipknot will screen its new documentary, Voliminal: Inside The Nine, at selected theatres in major cities around the country on December 5th, the same day that the double-DVD set arrives in stores.
Crahan, who directed the project, says that Voliminal will present an "unflinching" look at Slipknot's 10-year history. The main 80-minute film was shot on digital handheld cameras over a 28-month period while the band was recording and touring behind its 2004 album, Vol. 3 (The Subliminal Verses).
