Smashing Pumpkins to play European festivals?
The Smashing Pumpkins are tentatively going to perform at "some European festivals" this summer, according to a post by the band's webmistress, but she was unable to reveal the exact events as they were "still being finalized." The webmistress also addressed the recent leak of what was alleged to be four new Pumpkins songs, which turned out to be fakes posted by a British group called Amy Blue. The webmistress addressed Amy Blue's singer, who goes by the name Simon, saying, "Don't worry Simon, no one's gonna sue you. The band got a kick out of the story."
The London-based Amy Blue posted four of its own songs online as a prank, spreading the rumor that they were new Smashing Pumpkins tunes.
Frontman Billy Corgan announced the reactivation of the Smashing Pumpkins last year. Aside from Corgan and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin, it is unknown who else will be involved in the project.
No release date or title has been revealed for the Pumpkins comeback album, the first since 2000's MACHINA/The Machines of God.
Chamberlin has been posting updates on the album's progress at the Pumpkins' MySpace blog, recently writing that the band has been "very busy carving up the sonic landscape with oceans of guitars and a sea of fuzz bass."
