Staind, Stone Sour members contribute to Dimebag tribute
Staind singer Aaron Lewis and Stone Sour/Slipknot guitarist Jim Root are just two of the artists contributing hand-painted, illustrated or sculpted guitars to Six-String Masterpieces: The Dimebag Darrell Art Tribute, a traveling art exhibit dedicated to late Pantera and Damageplan guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott. Other artists donating custom-decorated axes include Ozzy Osbourne, former Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley, Lacuna Coil singer Cristina Scabbia and members of Ministry, ZZ Top, Hatebreed and Mountain. Some of the guitars will be displayed at this winter's National Association of Music Merchandisers (NAMM) convention, as well as Hollywood's Guitar Center, before being auctioned off to benefit a music and art education foundation being created in Abbott's name.
All the guitars will be supplied by Dean. More information can be found at deanguitars.com.
Previous contributors to the exhibit have included Metallica's James Hetfield, Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie and members of Godsmack, Slayer, Deftones and Mudvayne.
The exhibit toured the country in 2006, appearing on a number of Ozzfest and Family Values dates.
