Star Wars toys big for Shinedown, Disturbed singers at Christmas

Some of the most sought-after Christmas presents of the last 30 years have been toys based on the Star Wars movies, and both Shinedown frontman Brent Smith and Disturbed singer David Draiman were huge fans when they were kids. Smith told us that his father made an extra special effort one year to give his son a Star Wars Christmas: "My dad was a teacher his whole life and he worked, like, overtime this one Christmas for me, God bless him, to buy me this entire, like, Star Wars set. I had, like, the Millennium Falcon, and like all of the Ewoks, and all, like, the stormtroopers and all the ships and everything. It was pretty awesome. He bought me, like, every single item that was in the Star Wars movie."

Disturbed's Draiman said that it was good behavior that earned him the one Star Wars present he really wanted as a kid: "I remember I always wanted to get the Millennium Falcon, Han Solo's ship. I finally got it one year. I don't remember exactly what my parents ended up bribing me with, or they bribed me with, obviously, the toy, but I don't remember what I had to do to get it. It had something to do with grades and behavior and being just a good boy."

It is not known whether Draiman or Smith still own or actually play with their Star Wars toys.

Disturbed wraps up the first leg of the latest Music As A Weapon tour on Friday, December 22nd, in Madison, Wisconsin, and plans are already in the works for a second leg in early 2007.

Shinedown intends to get down to work on its third album as soon as the new year gets underway, barring any more touring opportunities.

Brent Smith recently recorded a solo acoustic cover of the classic John Lennon holiday antiwar song, "Happy Christmas (War Is Over)."
